Quest makes a wide range of high-protein foods: classic bars, Crispy Hero bars, Stacks, tortilla-style chips and 45 g milkshakes. But they're not all equally efficient. We ranked all 19 Quest products we track by grams of protein per 100 calories, the same metric as our leaderboard, using Quest's own published nutrition info.

What stands out
The milkshake is Quest's most efficient product. The 45g Protein Milkshake (all three flavors we track) is 45 g for 230 calories, or 19.6 per 100 calories. That ranks #8 of 143 on the leaderboard and it's also the most protein in a single Quest serving.
The chips beat every Quest bar. Quest Tortilla Style Protein Chips are 19 g for 140 calories a bag (13.6), and all four flavors share those numbers. That's higher than any Quest bar we track. See non-bar protein snacks for how they compare with Legendary's chips.
Best Quest bar: Crispy Hero Cookies & Cream. At 18 g for 150 calories (12.0), it edges the classic bars because it's smaller. Among classic Quest Protein Bars, Quest Protein Bar – Double Chocolate Chunk is the leanest at 170 calories (11.8). The rest of the classic line runs from 10.5 to 11.1.
Same brand, very different products. The bottom of the list is the Quest Crispy Hero – Peanut Butter & Jelly: 16 g for 210 calories (7.6). Quest Stacks – Cinnamon Brown Sugar is 9.1. The best Quest product scores 2.6 times the worst, so "Quest" on the label tells you less than the specific product does.
Quest vs the best bar we track
The top bar on our leaderboard is the David Gold Protein Bar (all 8 flavors we track), at 28 g for 150 calories (18.7). That's well ahead of every Quest bar we track. Quest's strength is variety, and its chips and milkshake hold up very well. See best protein bars per calorie for the full bar ranking.
How to use this list
- Most protein per calorie from Quest: the 45g milkshake, then the chips.
- Want a Quest bar? Crispy Hero Cookies & Cream or Double Chocolate Chunk score best. Flavor matters more than you'd think.
- Price: we have a brand-site price only for the seasonal Pumpkin Pie bar ($2.96 a bar, $1.48 per 10 g of protein), so we can't compare Quest prices yet.
Caveats
All numbers are from Quest's product pages. Some new or seasonal flavors may not stay on shelves, and we don't track every Quest flavor. 2 entries (Quest Tortilla Style Protein Chips – Pizza, Quest Stacks – Cinnamon Brown Sugar) list a serving without a weight or volume. We don't track sugar alcohols, fiber or ingredients, which matter for many people.
