David's Protein Milkshake is one of the newer 30 g shakes, and it's usually weighed against Premier Protein, the long-time default. We compared both David flavors we track with Premier's line using each brand's label, plus the prices we recorded on 2026-10-30.

Verdict: David's milkshake wins on protein per calorie (Vanilla 21.4, Chocolate 20.0, Premier 18.8), but Premier was much cheaper per 10 g of protein at the prices we recorded ($0.56–$0.89 vs $1.36).

What the numbers say

Same protein, different calories. All three list 30 g. David Vanilla is 140 calories, David Chocolate 150, Premier 160. So David saves 10–20 calories a bottle depending on flavor.

Premier saves money. We recorded David at $4.08 a bottle (brand-site case of 12) and Premier at $1.67–$2.67 (Amazon 12-packs, depending on flavor). That's $1.41–$2.41 more per bottle for David, or 2.4 times the price of the cheapest Premier flavors.

So pick the budget you care about: David Vanilla for calories, Premier for money. The prices come from different stores (brand site vs Amazon), so a sale or subscription discount on either side could change the gap.

Which one should you pick?

Caveats

David bottles are 1 bottle (355 mL); Premier bottles are 1 shake (11.5 fl oz). Serving sizes differ between products, so compare the protein and calories, not the package.
